Submersible Sump Pumps
Choosing the right sump pump for your needs
With so many different sump pumps available on the market today, it can be overwhelming to choose the right one for your specific needs. Whether you’re dealing with a basement flood, managing groundwater, or preventing moisture damage, selecting the right pump is crucial for ensuring long-term reliability and performance.
At Aldgate Pump Sales & Service, our specialists have the expertise to assess your unique situation and help you select the perfect sump pump for your application. We take into account factors such as pump capacity, power source, installation requirements, and system durability to recommend the best option tailored to your needs.
Let us guide you through the selection process and ensure you make an informed decision for optimal results.
Applications include:
- Domestic household applications – laundry, bath water etc.
- Septic tank effluent
- Disposal of water from garages, basements, car parks, cellars, drainage pits
- Emptying of tanks and water reservoirs
- Water displays and fountains
We offer a range of sump pumps including domestic household applications; pumps for dirty water (open impeller); submersible pumps designed to handle suspended solids; Pumps for sewage including shredder, grinder and slurry pumps; pumps for high head applications.
Standard Vs Vortex Impeller Sump Pumps
A Vortex impeller is an open impeller which creates a semi-vortex within the pump. By creating this vortex, it is able to pump soft solids in suspension and is less susceptible to blockage compared to standard impellers.
Latest Technology
We offer the latest in Grundfos technology. AutoAdapt by Grundfos brings together innovative and patented solutions to municipal, private and industrial applications.
AutoAdapt quite simply removes all external sensors, switches and cables from the pit, combining all sensors in a single pump that adapts automatically to conditions in the pit. This simplifies installation, commissioning and operation and increases reliability.
AutoAdapt pumps will adapt automatically when placed in the pit and can detect the presence of another pump. Up to four pumps will automatically calibrate their start/stop levels and fall into a pump alteration routine, ensuring optimum performance at all times.

Vortex Impeller Sump Pumps
A vortex impeller is an open-type impeller that creates a semi-vortex inside the pump, allowing it to efficiently handle water with soft solids, like sand or small debris. This design reduces the risk of blockages compared to standard impellers, which can clog when handling solids. The vortex impeller’s open structure allows for smoother flow, making it ideal for applications with debris-laden water, such as stormwater drainage, wastewater systems, or basement sump pumps. It offers increased durability and reliability, ensuring consistent performance even in challenging conditions.
Cutter Sump Pumps
A cutter sump pump is a submersible pump with a built-in cutting mechanism that shreds solids and debris before pumping water. This makes it ideal for handling wastewater or sewage with larger particles like tissue or rags, which could clog standard pumps.
Key Benefits:
Cutter Mechanism: Rotating blades break down solids into smaller pieces, preventing blockages.
Improved Efficiency: Smaller particles pass through the pump and pipes easily.
Applications: Common in sewage, septic, and industrial wastewater systems.
In short, a cutter sump pump is designed for heavy-duty applications, ensuring reliable operation where standard pumps might struggle with debris.
